If your FAAC gate hinge, bracket, or mounting plate has cracked, torn, or pulled loose, we stock the fabrication materials and weld on site to bring it back to spec. Most FAAC welding and fabrication jobs in Jacksonville run between $225 and $650 installed, depending on whether we’re repairing the existing part in place or fabricating a new mounting assembly. We carry the common FAAC hinge plates, weld-on brackets, and steel stock on the truck, so most jobs are done in one visit.

What usually brings owners to this page is the gate starting to sag or drag. That bolt that used to hold is now ovaled out. Maybe the gate still runs, but it shudders at the open limit and throws a fault code every few cycles. What happened is that the mounting point failed, not the motor. The operator is still fine, but it’s yanking against a hinge that no longer has solid steel behind it. Left alone, that wobble transfers stress back into the gearbox, gears strip, and a $350 fabrication fix becomes a $1,400 operator replacement. Catch it while it’s still just a crack.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
This applies to just about every FAAC swing gate setup installed in Jacksonville, but the failure points differ by series. FAAC 400, 412, and 415 operators mount on welded pedestals or bolt-on post brackets, and those bases are where cracks start. The FAAC S450H and S800H underground operators use steel foundation boxes and lid plates, and those lids take abuse from tires and mowers. The articulating arm models like the 750 and 760 series put constant torque on their mounting plates, which is why we keep those plates on the truck.
To identify what you have, check the operator housing for the silver FAAC data plate. The model number is stamped on it. If the plate is gone or painted over, measure the distance between the two hinge barrel sections or the width of the mounting base. A 400-series hydraulic operator looks noticeably bulkier than the new compact swing operators. Where compatibility gets tricky is with pre-2008 FAAC models, some older pistons used metric mounting centers that don’t line up with current aftermarket bracket stock. We measure before we cut, every time.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, FAAC-branded hinge parts are well made but priced like imported steel. Quality aftermarket equivalents in the same gauge and weld penetration are often the better buy for a residential gate in Jacksonville. We carry both, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your specific failure. Carver Gate Repair Jacksonville is an independent service provider, not affiliated with FAAC, so our loyalty is to the repair that lasts, not a brand invoice.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side when it’s open. The top hinge has wallowed out or the leaf itself has bent at the weld. That sag forces the operator to lift the gate as it swings, which is the fastest way to kill a hydraulic piston in a FAAC 400.
- You hear a creak or pop at one hinge during the travel, not at the start or stop. That’s metal flexing at a cracked weld or a hinge pin binding in an ovaled hole. The operator’s internal overload sensor will eventually start tripping and refusing the cycle.
- The operator base bolts keep loosening no matter how many times they’re tightened. The threaded inserts or the concrete anchors have stripped, which is a mounting failure, not a hardware issue. Re-torquing a stripped anchor just wears it faster.
- The gate grinds against the post at the fully open position. Typically a fabrication issue: the gate frame has racked or a lower bracket punched through rust-weakened steel, shifting the whole leaf out of square.
- Rust is flaking heavily around the bottom rail or the hinge welds. Jacksonville’s humidity and rain work steel all year. Once rust scale forms at a weld, the joint has lost its strength, even if the gate still looks level.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Jacksonville, expect a welded hinge repair or bracket replacement on a FAAC gate to land between $225 and $425 for most residential jobs. Full fabrication of a new mounting pedestal or a re-welded gate frame section with cut-out and replacement steel usually runs $350 to $650, depending on gauge of steel and how much finish work is needed.
What drives the range is access and the condition of the surrounding steel. If we’re welding overhead or inside a tight gate pocket, that costs more than an open driveway job in Mandarin or Ortega. All our work includes a written price before any work starts. You’ll know the number before we touch the gate. Every welding and fabrication repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, a written guarantee covering the work for a full year. If the weld fails inside that window, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely check the obvious things: wiggle the gate by hand and watch which joint moves, mark the crack with a sharpie so you know if it’s growing, and note whether the operator base plate has daylight under it. Those observations help us diagnose faster. What you shouldn’t do is fire up a 110-volt flux-core welder on a gate that weighs 400 pounds, especially on a FAAC leaf with a live operator attached. If the gate shifts or a spring is still under tension, the work becomes dangerous fast.
Welding a load-bearing hinge while the gate is hung can go wrong in ways that cost more than the repair. Heat warps the leaf, you lose your square, and now the operator is fighting a twisted gate. And any time you’re welding near electronics, you disconnect the operator or you fry a board. We do this as a planned job: gate braced, operator disconnected, weld squared and cooled, then three clean cycles before we call it done. “If the gate doesn’t cycle right, the job isn’t done.” If the crack is more than a quarter-inch wide or at a load-bearing hinge, call (904) 490-8559 for a free evaluation.
FAQs
A properly welded hinge or bracket on a FAAC gate in Jacksonville typically lasts 8 to 12 years when the repair includes grinding back to clean steel, full-penetration weld, and a rust-preventive coating. Coastal areas and gates that sit near sprinkler overspray shorten that lifespan, which is why we inspect the surrounding steel before we commit to a repair instead of welding onto compromised metal.
Most cracked brackets, hinge plates, and pedestal bases can be welded and reinforced without replacing the entire assembly. If the metal is rusted through in more than one spot or the piece is twisted beyond 1/8-inch of true, fabrication of a new part makes more sense than burning hours into buttered-up scrap. We’ll tell you which one is the better use of money.
A typical hinge or bracket weld runs 1.5 to 3 hours on site. Full fabrication work, where we’re cutting out a section and welding in new steel, usually takes 3 to 5 hours. We schedule it so the gate is back in service the same day, and we test with three consecutive clean cycles before we pack up.
We keep the common FAAC 400-series, 412, 415, and articulating arm mounting plates and weld-on brackets on the truck, along with hinge barrel stock in the standard residential sizes. If your model needs a non-stock plate or a thicker gauge than we carry, we source it same-week and you get a written price before anything is ordered. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls operators when a motor issue shows up with the fabrication work.
Every welding and fabrication repair carries a written 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the weld or fabricated part fails within a year of service, we come back and fix it at no charge. No argument, no invoice, no fine print.
If your FAAC gate is sagging, popping, or throwing fault codes because a hinge or bracket gave out, call (904) 490-8559. We’ll give you a written price before any weld is struck, and it won’t move at the door. Lonnie Burke and the crew work Jacksonville properties the same way every time: measure first, quote second, weld third, then cycle the gate until it runs clean.
