We stock Ghost Controls-compatible weldments, brackets, and fabricated steel mounts in our Jacksonville shop, and most replacements run between $180 and $420 installed, depending on the part and what it attaches to. Same-day service is available when the failed piece is a common mount or bracket we keep on the truck. Most Jacksonville owners discover the problem the hard way: a gate that suddenly sags, binds mid-cycle, or swings too far because a welded tab let go.

Ghost Controls builds its openers around a pivot geometry that depends on steel brackets staying exactly where the factory put them. When a weld cracks or a fabricated arm bends, the operator keeps pushing against a frame that has already shifted. That is how a small metal failure turns into a stripped gear or a burned motor. Before you replace the operator, check the steel under it.
Carver Gate Repair Jacksonville is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Ghost Controls, and we do not claim to be. What we are is a Jacksonville gate shop that fabricates and installs Ghost Controls-compatible steel every week, and we stand behind the work for a full year.
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls sells swing gate openers, and the weld-fabrication side of that system comes down to three pieces: the post-mount bracket, the gate-mount bracket, and the articulating arm that connects them. Those parts are common across the R series (R20, R30, R40), the DTP1, and the newer AXS line, but the bolt-hole spacing changed between generations. That is the first thing we check on a Jacksonville job, because forcing a new bracket onto old holes is how you inherit a cracked weld six months later.
The fastest way to identify what you have is to look at the arm where it meets the gate bracket. Older R-series units use a clevis pin and cotter ring. The AXS line uses a shouldered bolt with a nylock nut. If you see a cotter pin, we are fabricating to the older pattern. If there is a nylock, it is the newer one. That one detail determines which bracket we cut, drill, and weld before we ever leave the shop.
For the metal itself, we weld from 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch A36 plate stock, primed and painted, cut to match the original footprint. Ghost Controls does not sell every replacement bracket as a standalone OEM part, and when they do, Jacksonville humidity has usually made the cost hard to justify for bare steel. A properly fabricated equivalent, welded by someone who works on these operators daily, lasts as long as the factory piece and often longer, because we paint it for coastal air instead of shipping it bare.
We stock Ghost Controls-compatible brackets on the truck for the R-series and AXS lines. We also keep fabrication stock for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing mounts for the mixed-brand property we see around Jacksonville.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags on the hinge side when the operator releases. A cracked gate-mount bracket lets the arm’s load pull the gate leaf down, and the opener compensates by working harder every cycle.
- The arm makes a creaking or popping sound at the post or gate connection. That is the sound of a weld flexing. A solid bracket is silent. A cracked one talks to you before it lets go entirely.
- The gate drifts or bounces at the full-open or full-closed stop. If the post bracket has shifted out of alignment, the arm reaches its travel limit at the wrong point, and the gate lands where the bent steel says to land.
- You can see rust trails running from a bracket or arm joint. Rust doesn’t fail the part by itself, but in Jacksonville’s salt air, a rust line marks where moisture is sitting in a stress crack. That crack is the thing that fails.
- One side of the gate appears lower than before, or the gap under the latch side has changed. The post-mount bracket is no longer holding the pivot true, so the whole leaf has rotated a degree or two. The operator still works, but the geometry is gone.
If more than one of these is true at your property, we usually find the bracket is not the only casualty. The operator itself has been overloaded by the failed steel, and we will want to check the gear train and limit switch while we are in there. Lonnie Burke has pulled apart too many Ghost Controls units in Mandarin and the Southside that were destroyed by a bracket failure the owner never saw coming.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Jacksonville, Ghost Controls bracket and weldment replacement typically runs from $180 to $420 installed. The low end covers a single fabricated bracket with a direct bolt-pattern match, welded off-site and installed with the operator re-aligned. The high end covers a bent or snapped articulating arm, plus the bracket on both post and gate, plus a full limit-switch recalibration so the opener stops where it is supposed to.

What pushes the price toward the top of the range:
- Two-sided gates. Dual openers mean two sets of brackets and two arms to check, even if only one side failed.
- Custom post conditions. A square post that was welded by the original fence contractor rarely matches the bracket footprint, so we fabricate a transition plate.
- Corrosion damage. If the old bracket was bolted to a rusted post, we may need to cut out the rot and weld in a plate before mounting anything new.
Every price is written. You get it before we open a tool bag, and that number does not move at the door. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if it fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That includes a second visit if something breaks inside the guarantee window.
DIY or Call Us?
There is one thing a Jacksonville owner can safely check before calling anyone: the pivot bolts and set screws. If they have backed out, snugging them can stop the sag temporarily, and that tells you the bracket was loose rather than cracked. What we recommend against is breaking out a welder on a bracket that is still attached to the operator. Ghost Controls arms carry spring tension in the swing geometry, and a failed bracket under load can release that tension when you cut it loose. The pinch point between arm and gate bracket has taken fingers before.
If the bracket is cracked, do not run the gate. Call (904) 490-8559 and tell us what Ghost Controls model you have. We will bring the right bracket pattern, weld it if custom work is needed, and install it with the operator re-aligned. If the gate doesn’t cycle right, the job isn’t done.
FAQs
Expect 5 to 8 years from factory Ghost Controls brackets or quality fabricated equivalents in Jacksonville’s climate. Coastal or intracoastal properties with direct salt exposure may see failures closer to the 3- to 5-year mark, because the paint fails before the steel does, and rust works the weld seams first.
Sometimes, but it is usually the wrong call. A cracked bracket can be welded in place to buy time, but the weld is only as good as the surrounding steel, which has already lived through one failure. We will weld in place when the crack is fresh and the surrounding metal measures sound. If it has been flexing for weeks, we replace and reinforce instead. The written guarantee covers either choice for a full year.
A single-sided bracket replacement on a Ghost Controls opener in Jacksonville typically takes 45 to 90 minutes on-site. Custom fabrication happens in our shop before we arrive. A full two-sided replacement with recalibration can run up to half a day, and we tell you that window when you book.
Yes. We keep R-series and AXS bracket patterns, pivot hardware, and arm components on our trucks, and we fabricate what we don’t stock from plate steel matched to the original footprint. If you call before noon, we can usually get a technician to your property the same day.
If your Ghost Controls gate is sagging, popping, or out of line, call (904) 490-8559. We’ll put a background-checked, uniformed technician at your gate with the right steel and a written price before anything gets cut.
