If your Elite gate opener has stopped responding to the keypad, card reader, or intercom, you’re likely dealing with a failed access control board or receiver. We stock Elite-compatible access control components on our trucks and typically install them in Jacksonville for $285 – $620, depending on whether we’re replacing a receiver, control board, or an entire access system. Most jobs are completed the same day we arrive. The usual first sign is a gate that opens fine with the handheld remote but ignores the keypad or phone entry entirely, which tells us the problem is in the access control path, not the motor itself.

Carver Gate Repair Jacksonville is an independent service provider, not an Elite dealer or affiliate. What that means for you: we match the part to your existing Elite system without pushing a brand switch.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite access control components show up across their swing and slide gate operator lines, including the SL-3000 and CSL-2000 slide operators, the Miracle-1 and Apollo swing lines, and older ETL series boards still running in Jacksonville neighborhoods like Mandarin and Arlington. The compatibility gotcha with Elite is the receiver frequency. Older Elite units ran on 318 MHz, while newer boards shifted to 433 MHz. If you buy a 433 MHz receiver for a 318 MHz board, the gate will never respond, and that’s a mistake we see regularly when homeowners order parts online without checking the board revision.
How to identify what you have: open the control box cover and look for the model label on the main board. The board revision number is printed in the corner, usually starting with a letter and four digits. Match that revision, not just the operator model name, because Elite ran mid-cycle board changes on several lines. For OEM versus aftermarket: Elite OEM boards are solid but expensive, and lead times can stretch to a week or more. We stock quality aftermarket equivalents for the most common Elite boards, and in our experience, those equivalents have held up well through Jacksonville’s humidity and summer heat. We’ll tell you which one makes sense before ordering anything.

Signs Your Elite Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad or card reader dead, but remote works. The receiver is still picking up the handheld transmitter signal, which means the access control input path or the control board relay has failed. This is the most common failure we replace in Jacksonville.
- Gate opens on its own or refuses to close. A failing loop detector or a shorted input on the access control board sends false open/close signals. In Jacksonville’s summer rain, moisture intrusion into the control box accelerates this.
- Phone entry system rings but won’t release the gate. The relay that bridges the phone entry unit to the Elite board has burned out. This is a board-level failure, not a wiring issue.
- Intermittent response from the keypad. Solder joints on older Elite boards crack over time, especially with Florida’s temperature swings. The keypad works in the morning, fails at noon, works at night. That’s a failing board, not a failing keypad.
- You hear a click but nothing moves. The access control board fires, but the output relay is worn and doesn’t carry enough current to engage the motor circuit. This often gets misdiagnosed as a bad motor, which is a much more expensive wrong answer.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Elite access control work typically costs installed in Jacksonville:
- Access control receiver swap: $180 – $285
- Control board replacement (aftermarket equivalent): $320 – $495
- Control board replacement (OEM Elite): $450 – $620 plus lead time
- Full access control retrofit (board, receiver, keypad or reader): $520 – $780
Every price includes the part, labor, and testing. The spread depends on your specific Elite board revision, whether we need to pull new low-voltage wire, and how accessible your control box is. Two things we don’t do: quote one price and show up with a different invoice, or leave a gate that cycles twice and call it done. The written price is in your hand before we open the control box, and every access control installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the part fails inside that year, the second visit is free, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few basics: confirm the breaker hasn’t tripped, look for moisture or ant nests inside the control box, and check that the keypad wire isn’t chewed through at the conduit. If those check out and the gate still ignores the keypad while the remote works, the problem is almost certainly on the board, and that’s where DIY goes wrong fast. Elite boards carry 120V into the control box and stepped-down low voltage on the board itself. A wrong probe placement or a bridged connection can fry a good board, void your approach to a warranty claim, and in the worst case, throw a shock. Access control wiring is not the place to experiment. If you’ve narrowed it to the board and want it done right the first time, call (904) 490-8559 and we’ll handle it.
FAQs
We typically see 7 to 12 years out of an Elite board in Jacksonville, with the shorter end of that range common along the Intracoastal and in neighborhoods with heavy tree cover where humidity and insects work on the control box year-round.
Sometimes, if the failure is a single burned relay or a cracked solder joint, a board-level repair makes sense and can save you $150 – $250. But for corrosion or multi-component failure, replacement is the durable fix, and we’ll show you why before you spend a dollar either way.
Most Elite access control replacements take 60 to 90 minutes on site, including programming the receiver to your existing remotes and testing the full cycle. If we’re running new wire or retrofitting a keypad, expect up to two hours.
Yes. Our Jacksonville trucks carry common Elite board equivalents, receivers, and loop detectors, which is why most access control repairs are completed in one visit. We also keep parts on hand for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems when we run into mixed-brand setups.
If your Elite gate is ignoring the keypad, call (904) 490-8559 for a free estimate. A live person answers, day or night, and we’ll give you a written price before we touch the control box.
