We stock and install Elite-compatible welding and fabrication components for Jacksonville gate systems, with most weld repairs and fabrication replacements running $285 to $1,100 installed depending on the part and its location on the gate. Call (904) 490-8559 and we’ll match the failed part to your Elite model, quote a written price before any work starts, and schedule the repair. What we see most on Elite gates in Jacksonville is fatigue cracking at the hinge weld points and stress fractures along the uprights where the gate’s weight concentrates, especially after years of Florida humidity and salt air working on the metal.

We are an independent gate repair company. We are not affiliated with Elite or its parent company, but we work on Elite equipment regularly and keep the right welding consumables and fabricated replacements on the trucks.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite gate operators themselves are the motor and control side of the system, and the welding and fabrication work that goes with them covers the physical gate frame, hinge assemblies, post mounts, and latch points that the operator drives. In practice this means the welded steel or aluminum components on any Elite swing or slide gate installation, whether the operator is an Elite SL3000 slide operator, an Elite SwingArm series, or one of the older Elite EZ-Series units. The part that fails is rarely the operator; it is the fabricated metal it is bolted to.
When you call about a broken weld or a cracked frame member, we ask you to check for three things before we head out. First, the model plate on the operator itself, which gives us the series and lets us match the correct mounting pattern and bracket kit. Second, the gate frame material: steel and aluminum weld very differently, and the replacement needs to match the original metal or the fix will fail in a different spot. Third, the hinge style, because Elite gates in Jacksonville are split between barrel hinges, which weld to the post, and face-mount hinges, which bolt through drilled plate. This matters more than people expect: a barrel hinge that cracks at the weld is a fabrication repair, while a face-mount hinge that tears out is usually a post repair with a fabricated backing plate.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for Elite specifically: Elite’s operator brackets and mount kits are worth keeping genuine, because the hole spacing and torque specs are dialed to their operators. For the gate frame itself, quality aftermarket steel and aluminum stock, cut and welded by a fabricator who knows gates, performs just as well as anything the gate builder originally used, and we’ll tell you when that is the better value.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the latch corner. When the weld at the bottom hinge begins to crack, the gate drops slightly and the latch no longer lines up with its strike. You’ll see a fresh gap at the top of the hinge barrel or a hairline crack running along the weld toe.
- You hear a creak or pop during the first few inches of travel. That sound is usually the hinge weld or a cracked frame member shifting under load. It is more pronounced in the morning, before the metal has warmed and expanded.
- The operator works harder than it used to. When a welded joint loosens, the gate’s weight distribution changes, and the Elite operator draws more current trying to move the same gate. The motor may strain or thermal-trip on a gate that used to run fine.
- Rust staining bleeds from a joint or bolt hole. In Jacksonville’s humidity and coastal air, water gets into a cracked weld or a worn bolt hole and accelerates corrosion from the inside. By the time you see the stain on the surface, the section behind it is generally worse.
- The gate wracks when it reverses or hits a stop. A gate with a solid frame flexes as one piece. A gate with a broken weld twists at the failure point, and you’ll see the free corner lag or whip when the operator changes direction.

Every quote we give includes the fabricated part or weld repair, the labor to install and align it with your Elite operator, and cleanup of the work area. The price you approve in writing is the price you pay, and we do not begin work until that number is on the table. Our repair warranty is good for a full year from the date of service, and if the repair fails inside that window, the second visit is free. No charge, no argument. That guarantee is the Garrison Standard, and it applies to every repair we do in Jacksonville.
DIY or Call Us?
Welding a gate frame is not a beginner repair, and on an automated Elite gate it is a repair where the stakes are higher than a failed weld. The gate carries tension from the operator, weight from its own structure, and in Jacksonville, near-constant moisture working against whatever you weld. A bad weld on a gate hinge or upright can let go without warning, and a falling gate section weighs hundreds of pounds. If the part that failed is a bolt-on bracket or a simple latch plate, a mechanically confident homeowner can unbolt and replace it with hand tools. If the failure is a cracked weld, a torn hinge barrel, or any structural member, we recommend you call us. We have the machine and the experience to make the repair match the gate, and our number is (904) 490-8559.
FAQs
A properly prepared steel weld on a gate, with the area ground clean and the repair primed and painted, will typically hold for 10 to 15 years in Jacksonville’s humidity before water intrusion at the edges starts the corrosion cycle again. That lifespan drops sharply if the repair is welded over rust or left unpainted, which is exactly what we see from rushed jobs. Call (904) 490-8559 if you want the repair done to the standard above.
Most cracks can be welded and reinforced with a gusset plate for a fraction of the cost of a new gate, and that is the repair we recommend when the surrounding metal is sound. Replacement is the honest answer only when the frame has multiple failures or the steel has thinned from corrosion to the point that rewelding would just move the problem to the next joint.
Most single-hinge or frame crack repairs take two to four hours on site, including grind prep, welding, cooling, paint, and a full cycle test on the Elite operator. A full upright or bottom rail replacement generally takes a half day, and Lonnie Burke does not close out the job until the gate cycles clean three times in a row. Call (904) 490-8559 to get on the schedule.
We stock common Elite operator mounting brackets, hinge stock, reinforcement plate material, and steel and aluminum member stock on our Jacksonville trucks, along with the welding machine and grinding equipment to fabricate most replacements on site. For unusual sizes or an operator-specific bracket we need to order, we’ll tell you the lead time before we leave your driveway.
We keep parts and service capability for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls alongside Elite, and our technicians work on nine gate motor brands total, so the repair plan fits whatever is already installed at your Jacksonville property.
